SACRAMENTO — Join the Nichi Bei Foundation and the Northern California Soy and Tofu Festival as they salute Kendyl Ito, the lead actress in the River City Theatre Company production of “Legally Blonde” at the Hiram Johnson High School Auditorium, with a private reception after the performance on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 1:30 p.m.

Ito, a 17-year-old senior at Sacramento’s C.K. McClatchy High School, plays Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde,” a musical based on the popular movie starring Reese Witherspoon.

Sorority star Elle doesn’t take no for an answer, so when her boyfriend dumps her for someone “serious,” she puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

Ito has performed in a variety of venues in the Sacramento and Davis regions, playing Sandy in “Grease,” Belle in “Beauty and the Beast,” July in “Annie,” Alice in “Alice in Wonderland,” and The Medium in “Rashomon.”

She has received a SARTA (Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance) Elly nomination for her role as Princess Robin in “A Dragon’s Tail” and was a finalist in the 2011 Lion’s Club World of Talent Competition.

Hiram Johnson High School is located at 6879 14th Ave. (at 16th Street) in Sacramento. The post-show reception, benefiting the Nichi Bei Foundation and the Northern California Soy and Tofu Festival, will be held at Tamaya Sushi, 2131 J St. (at 22nd Street), Sacramento.

Tickets for the show and reception are $40 for adults, $35 for children, students and seniors (65 and over). There is a $1 processing fee per ticket. Reservation deadline: Monday, Nov. 5. For more information, go to www.nichibei.org/tickets.
