As part of the final day of the 2013 Nisei Week Japanese Festival, the 20th annual Taiko Gathering will be hosted by the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center, 244 S. San Pedro St. in Little Tokyo, on Sunday, Aug. 18.

The event, emceed by Rodney Kageyama, will feature taiko groups from around Southern California, plus guest performers from Japan. The schedule is as follows.

11:30 a.m.: Togen Taiko from Oxnard Buddhist Church

12 p.m.: Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko (Okinawan drum dancing)

12:20 p.m.: Kodama Taiko from Pasadena

12:50 p.m.: L.A. Matsuri Taiko

1:25 p.m.: Koshin Taiko from Venice

1:55 p.m.: Kishin Daiko from East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center

2:30 p.m.: Yoki Daiko from Tenrikyo Church

3 p.m.: Yuujou Daiko from Gedatsu Church

3:30 p.m.: Senryu Taiko from UC Riverside

4 p.m.: Jodaiko from UC Irvine

4:30 p.m.: Prota (Progressive Taiko) from West Los Angeles

5 p.m.: Makoto Taiko from Pasadena

5:30 p.m.: Touzan Taiko from Cal Poly Pomona

6 p.m.: Taiko Center of L.A. presents Kijo Daiko and special guest Hiroyuki Hayashida from Japan
