At an upcoming “Sawtelle Stories” event, he will talk about his teens and later becoming a master baker. His contribution to the Nikkei community will be explored.

Randy Sakamoto will discuss his grandfather, Gisuke Sakamoto, through the many photographs and memorabilia that he inherited.  His grandfather was instrumental in establishing the Japanese Institute of Sawtelle and the West Los Angeles United Methodist Church.

The stories will be related on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the New Center for Psychoanalysis, 2014 Sawtelle Blvd. in West Los Angeles.

Parking is available on Beloit Avenue between LaGrange and Mississippi or on nearby streets.

No charge for admission.  Donations are accepted to the Japanese Institute of Sawtelle (JIS), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Sawtelle Stories Forum is partially funded by the Terasaki Community Outreach Grant.
