Dr. Tritia Toyota, award-winning broadcast journalist, and acclaimed playwright Dr. Velina Hasu Houston will be featured speakers at the West Los Angeles JACL’s holiday dinner on Monday, Dec. 9.

Toyota is a former Los Angeles television news anchor for KNBC and KCBS who is a co-founder and past national president of the Asian American Journalists Association. She is now an adjunct assistant professor in anthropology and Asian American studies at UCLA.

Houston is best known for her groundbreaking play “Tea,” which portrays the lives of Japanese war brides who move to the United States with their American servicemen husbands. She is a resident playwright and professor of theatre at USC.

The event, which starts at 6:30 p.m., will be held at the Napa Valley Grille, 1100 Glendon Ave. in Westwood, and is open to the public. Dinner is $45.
