Jimmy Teruaki Murakami (Dublin and Los Angeles), born in San Jose, Calif. in 1933, moved to Dublin, Ireland in 1971. He was known as the “Founding Father of Irish Animation.” Died Feb. 16, 2014 peacefully at St. Vincent’s Private Hospital in Dublin, Ireland after a short illness. Words cannot express how much he will be missed by his wife Ethna; daughters Deirdre and Claire; grandchildren Keelin; Rory, Finn and Tara; son-in-law Nick; brother Jun; sister Yuri Joko; Uncle George Yoshinaga; Aunt Molly Hamasaki; sister-in-law and brother-in-law; his cousins, nieces and nephews; and especially regretted by all the McInerney family in Ireland; and his wide circle of friends. Funeral service on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, Monkstown, Co. Dublin, and then afterwards to a private cremation at Mount Jerome.
