Kodomo no Hi and Dia de los Ninos meet at Fiesta Matsuri, to be presented by the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center at JACCC Plaza and the Aratani Theatre, 244 S. San Pedro St. in Little Tokyo, on Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This multi-ethnic celebration for children and their families includes children’s arts and crafts workshops, games, food, and performances on the plaza. Don’t miss this chance for family fun and memories.
Finish off the day with a movie, “Godzilla vs. Biollante,” at 3 p.m. in the Aratani Theatre. Free admission for children 12 and under and $12 for adults. The director of special effects will hold a model and camera demonstration.
Activities: Kazari workshop; traditional rag doll workshop; samurai armor demonstration; Ukulele Lounge; silkscreen/woodblock workshop
Performances by children: Plaza De La Raza Children’s Mariachi; Tierra Blanca; ukulele led by Glen Kamida; taiko
The festival also features children’s games and food booths/food trucks in the plaza and performances by the Grateful Crane Ensemble.
