The annual Terminal Islanders Picnic will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, at George Bellis Park, located at Knott Avenue and Eighth Street in Buena Park.
Entertainment will be provided by L.A. Kayo and Pihemanu, with games and races for children, “Tanko Bushi” odori dancing and a traditional mochi-maki.
Raffle tickets for a TV and iPad will be sold as well as T-shirts and tank tops. The book “Terminal Island — The Lost Communities of Los Angeles Harbor,” co-authored by Naomi Hirahara and Geraldine Knatz, will be available.
If you are a current member and attend the picnic, a complimentary copy of the book will be provided to you. Additional copies can be purchased for $35 with 100 percent of the proceeds to go to the Terminal Island Memorial Monument. Bento lunches are $12 each and pre-orders must be received by June 6.
