On June 2 in Pasadena, the 2024 Ryo and Jean Komae Scholarship recipients met Glenn and Kent Komae of the Komae family.

The Komae Scholarships are awarded each year to support the next generation of mental health clinicians who have a heart to serve in the Asian American community.

Since 2011, 27 scholarships have been awarded to graduate students in marriage and family therapy, social work and clinical psychology programs. Many of these graduates are now practicing in mental health settings across Southern California.

This year’s recipients are students at Fuller Theological Seminary studying to receive their masters degrees in marriage and family therapy. They are Isabelle Kwok and Jehuda Kusuma, each with a unique vision and calling to bring hope, healing and wellness to the Asian American community after graduation.

  1. I’ve known the Komae Family a long time in Gardena and am proud of them for their goodwill and continued charity towards others. Well done Komaes.
