Kinko Uyemura of Castroville, California went peacefully to the clearing at the end of her path in Salinas, California on July 17, 2025. She was 85 years old.
Kinko was born on February 14, 1940, in Japan and emigrated to America at the age of 21, settling in the city of Los Angeles. She joined the congregation of the Los Angeles Holiness Church, where she was baptized as a Christian and her long walk with God began. On March 21, 1965, Kinko married Akio Uyemura, who was the love of her life. Kinko and Akio were married for 32 years and had three children – Makoto, Akira and Shino. Akio passed away in 1997. In 2012, Kinko moved in with her daughter’s family in Monterey County, California, where she would live for the rest of her life.
Kinko, tragically, was predeceased by her son, Raymond Makoto (Susan) Uyemura; and is remembered and missed by her son, Patrick Akira (Harumi) Uyemura; her daughter, Sharon Shino (David) Halasz; grandchildren, Alexander Tsuyoshi Barata, Caitlin Hikari (Ryan) Buckalew, Marley Kazumi Uyemura, Megumi Joy Barata, Matthew Akinori Uyemura, and Jennifer Chinatsu Uyemura.
Funeral service will be held on September 20, 2025, 10 a.m. at the Los Angeles Holiness Church, reception to follow. Kinko will be laid to rest at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
