Ronald Shigematsu, beloved husband, father, grandfather, physician, and lifelong Los Angeles resident, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026.
Born to Steve and Jean Shigematsu, Ron attended the University of Southern California and later earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. In 1976, he met Grace, the love of his life, and they married in 1980, building a beautiful life together in Pacific Palisades.
For 39 years, Ron served the community as a compassionate physician with Little Tokyo Medical Group and as a board member of St. Vincent IPA. A man of deep faith, he also served on mission trips and as an elder at Calvary Church of Pacific Palisades.
Ron embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He loved music, dancing, golf, skiing, fishing, and cheering for the LA Dodgers and USC Trojans. Above all, he treasured time with family and friends and was known for his servant’s heart, generosity, and infectious zest for life.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; his children, Jonathan (Kimberly), Christina (Christopher), and Stephen (Gillian); and his four beloved grandchildren.
Ron will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched. A private service was held at the Calvary Church of Pacific Palisades.
