September 1, 1925 – March 29, 2026
Yoshiye “Yo” Amy Mori, born September 1, 1925 in Los Angeles, California, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, at the remarkable age of 100.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Tom Mori; beloved sister, Tami Kawashima; and dear parents, Yoshitaro “Eddie” Akada and Tani Nakagawa Akada.
Yo is survived by her loving family: son, John (Janis) Mori; daughter, Lisa Mori; daughter, Linda (Glenn) McNeil; son, Ron K. Mori; grandsons, Nick and Kyle McNeil and Ryan and William Mori; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In the last years of her life, she was fortunate to receive exceptional care at home from her amazing and wonderful “helpers”: Ellen Francisco, Cora Nadal, and Amy Nozawa.
Throughout her life, Yo brought dedication and warmth to everything she did. In addition to being a great mom of four kids, she worked as a stenographer for the California Highway Patrol in Torrance. She found joy in traveling, loved testing her luck playing video poker and slots at the casinos, savored her favorite foods (e.g., tuna sashimi, steak, baby back ribs, strawberries, mochi, anything chocolate, etc.), and enjoyed watching her Asian programs, especially murder mysteries. Above all, her greatest joy was time spent with family and friends.
Private family services will be held following an ashes scattering at sea ceremony via Neptune Society on August 8. Yo will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
