The Venice Japanese Community Center held its annual Natsu Matsuri (Summer Festival) on the weekend of June 21-22. Above and below: Attendees were invited to join in the ondo dancing regardless of experience, and a good time was had by all.
Kids tested their eye-hand coordination at the game booths.
Menu items at the food booths included Venice Youth Council’s corn on the cob (above) and Troop 764’s shave ice (below).
Cultural displays included calligraphy (pictured), bonsai and ikebana.


Ikebana flower arrangements were created on stage.
Students of Fujima Seiyumi Kai performed Japanese classical dance.
Drumming by Koshin Taiko. The event also featured kendo, hula, line dancing, and a donut-eating contest.
